MoCaFi

Dakota Communications is the lead consultant for Mobility Capital Finance (MoCaFi), a minority-owned and operated business which through its financial service platform has served millions of Americans dealing with economic hardship. Most notably, they worked with LA Mayor Eric Garcetti to provide emergency financial assistance through the Angeleno Card where $70 million was disbursed citywide to individuals facing economic hardships during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic.

In 2022, MoCaFi sought the services of Dakota for strategic political and outreach guidance for engagement opportunities within LA County and City of LA agencies. As part of Dakota's strategic outreach plan, we were instrumental in rebranding collateral materials that would maximize MoCaFi’s impactful work that focused on a central objective: to financially empower our underserved communities in the City.

During the course of over 2 years of an engagement campaign aimed at local civic leaders, we created long-term advocates and partnerships at the County and City level. Additionally, Dakota created interfacing opportunities for MoCaFi with leading community-based organizations (CBOs) that are at the forefront of annually serving low-income and homeless Angelenos through equitable initiatives and programs.

Most currently, Dakota is providing MoCaFi with political guidance and strategy towards their efforts within LA County and the City of LA for the 2025 Wildfire Relief and Recovery for individuals most impacted by the unprecedented events in the areas of Palisades and Altadena. For the Wildfire 2025 Relief and Recovery efforts, MoCaFi’s services include emergency intake to streamline services for evacuees; case management to track and support affected residents; emergency cash disbursement programs to provide immediate financial relief; and sheltering coordination to manage temporary housing for evacuees.
